In case you think I’ve been a bit slack lately, I’m pleased to finally talk about What I’ve Been Working on for most of this year. Even better, it’s the Doctor Who news I hinted at some time ago.
A brand new Doctor Who partwork magazine hits shops TODAY. It’s called Doctor Who Monster Invasion, it’s not only a great Doctor Who magazine but an awesome trading card game too, and you can find out all about it on their luvvverly website at… doctorwhomi.com
I draw the Find The Doctor section, a double-page picture search where you have to find not only the Doctor, but a number of other things hidden in amongst a whole variety of foes. This first issue features the planet of the Ood, as they’re mid-snowball fight!
I’ve drawn nearly twenty spreads so far, but with loads still left to do (I’m on this for the next year or so). I’ve taken on Weeping Angels, Sontarans, Judoon, drawn the inside of the Dalek ship, the Cyberman factory, and more recently settings and enemies from the current series (seriously, any idea how hard it is keeping these secrets?). And while I was a bit nervous at first to take on such a rich mythology, I’ll be honest – this is THE most fun I’ve had in a long time, and the work I’m doing here is some of the best stuff I’ve done. I’m proper excited for some of the pieces I’ve been working on recently to come out.
I was honoured to be involved with the magazine when it was testing over a year ago, so to see it finally come out, and all the love and hard work that’s gone into it, it’s a real buzz to see. While it’s obviously important to draw the enemies and the settings as accurately as possible (albeit in my style), I’m left to fill the pages largely how I choose, which is something I really rise to. So there is SO much going on in these things. Maybe I’ll be allowed to show some of the future pictures I’ve done, but since they’re under copyright that’ll be limited, so if you want to see them all then please do subscribe or hunt Doctor Who Monster Invasion down in shops!
Issue one is on sale now in all good shops (UK), and is out for three weeks. After that each issue will be fortnightly.
Bloody Hell – this is magic news, i knew the DrWho news was going to be great, but this is kinda excelled what i was expecting.
How the hell did you get all this done AND get Chaffy vol.2 done AND get all the other shenanigans done?
I’m sincerely tempted to subscribe to the DrWho mag – but i’m wondering (And they’d be absolutely crazy not to) If these spreads will be released as a collected book? Who’s fingers do i need to break to make this happen?

I love anything you do jamie…and im quite fond of doctor who…but im american. ive looked all over but it doesnt look like ill be able to buy my copies because NO websites i see selling them will ship them to me here in the states…/cry
